Heroes/Troops Match Tips 8

Shieldmen + Spearmen

Welcome to the Heroes/Troops Match Tips. This session will introduce how to use infantry (Shieldmen and Spearmen) in actual combat.

After the first two sessions, you’ll quickly understand the importance of having Shieldmen in your dispatch. There are obvious disadvantages in dispatches that only contain one troop type. For example, although archers have advantages over spearmen in terms of specialty and skills, if they don’t have a stout front row of shieldman to protect them, they may still be defeated by the spearmen. The advantage of spearmen lies in the their talent against cavalry, which not only causes a lot of extra damage to cavalry and mounted archers, it also has a certain chance to directly attack them. Therefore, shieldmen plus spearmen can perfectly counter shieldmen plus cavalry when the attributes of both sides are relatively close.

How to further improve the power of shieldmen plus spearmen in this troop formation?

Unlike dispatches that have shieldmen + cavalry or shieldmen + archers, dispatches formed by shieldmen and spearmen enjoy all the infantry buffs added to your dispatch. That is to say, you only need to focus on infantry attributes when you are enhance your power such as heroes, Lord skills, equipment or hero skills.

Facing shieldmen + cavalry, we recommend Gideon, the Faceless Knight, and Bige; Facing shieldmen + archer, we recommend Gideon, the Faceless Knight, and Jassan; Scouting a castle protected by a Fog Spell, we recommend you send a full dispatch of shieldmen along with Gideon, the Faceless Knight, and Oged’Mael as the shieldmen’s HP is incredibly high and the potential losses can be minimized.

If you have any other tips about using shieldmen+spearmen, you are welcome to share them in our Forum. See you soon!
