Shieldmen + Cavalry
Welcome to the Heroes/Troops Match Tips. In this session, we will introduce how to use the Shieldmen and Cavalry in actual combat.
Cavalry is a troop type that counters rear units. What distinguishes them from Spearmen and Archers, is the Cavalry talent that allows for a chance to directly attack the enemy troops which are all the way in the back (with the exception of lancers). In terms of troop positions, the front row troops have low attack, but high HP and defense, the classic “front row tanks”. The advantage of the rear row troops lies in their high attack, but low HP and defense. For example, War Machines and Archers deal high damage from the back while the front row provides protection and soaks up damage. This Cavalry talent allows them to ride right through that protective wall to slaughter the troops in the rear dealing all the damage. As a bonus, Cavalry deal extra damage by countering Archers. You want to take out Archers, have your cavalry pay them a quick visit.
With the new battle logic, victory is determined by troops, attributes, and heroes, but the impact of these 3 factors are not created equal. Troops are the base. If troops are countered, attributes and heroes aren’t going to bail you out, unless the power gap between the 2 sides is very big. Attributes are a minor, but important factor, with the attributes strength determining battle losses. Heroes, which are the the key to every battle, add to troops attributes, making their skills crucial in any battle.
Check out the new hero Hua Mulan for example: Once upgraded to her max level, her skill, Back Thrust, boosts Cavalry attack by 60.69%, damage dealt by Cavalry by 50%, with a 30% chance to attack again during a battle. With such a powerful double attack skill, plus Cavalry Charge, Hua Mulan could be a major force that will make your Shieldmen + Cavalry combo unbeatable.
Using the new battle logic, the new hero Hua Mulan, and Cavalary mainstay Kavehn are your best bets for Cavalry. With Shieldmen and Cavalry countering Shieldmen and Archers, they’ll defeat their enemies even if your rival is using Kanoa and Eritria.
